š¦The mystery writer
When Theodosia Benton abandons her career path as an attorney and shows up on her brother's doorstep with two suitcases and an unfinished novel, she expects to face a few challenges. Will her brother support her ambition or send her back to finish her degree? What will her parents say when they learn of her decision? Does she even have what it takes to be a successful writer?
What Theo never expects is to be drawn into a hidden literary world in which identity is something that can be lost and remade for the sake of an audience.
Iāve never read from this author but Iāll be sure to read again from her because her writing is amazing.
The book starts with a romance then it becomes a murder mystery while it develops another romance.
I loved that the book didnāt focus on the romance but on who did it? Who killed Dan Murdoch? And the peculiar of it was that it was made to keep you hook so it doesnāt let you rest so you have to find out.Ā
It all comes down to unmarking someone who had put on a mask on everyone who readers are not waiting for. Then it comes the conspiracy theories.Ā
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read it in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you, NetGalley, for an advanced copy of The Mystery Writer in exchange for a review.
Iād give this 2.5 āļø overall. The premise was interesting and unique, but there was somehow too much and not enough happening at the same time. I didnāt connect with any of the characters and had a hard time staying engaged.
In short, I really wanted to love the book based on its premise, but the execution of it was a miss for me.

I had high expectations for this book, but unluckily it was just not my piece of cake.Ā
The plot seems interesting but nothing made me connect to the characters in any way, they seem kinda flat. Sometimes I felt a lack of details for the characters' development, but at the same time, I felt there were too many unnecessary details for the story. Maybe it was the opposite way I would ended up liking this book more.Ā
But Iām sure many people will enjoy āThe Mystery Writerā! The twists are good, and the story is interesting. Just - again - not my type.Ā
Thank you NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely adored the Woman in the Library, so had really high hopes for this book as well. I enjoyed but not nearly as much as the other. That said, it was still ab entertaining and twisting ride.

This was different. I love conspiracy theory stuff in fiction because itās based so strongly in possibly conceptual truths.
When Theo abandons her law career path and turns to her brother for a place to stay, she decides that her unfinished novel is what she wants. So, she spends time in a coffee shop āwritingāā¦ There she meets Dan, a well known writer working in a manuscript of his own. The two form a swift friendship, which quickly turns romantic.
But, when Dan is found dead and his manuscript missing, things become stranger and stranger. Theo knows that she needs to learn more about Dan and is determined to do so.
This was good. I enjoyed the characters and the plot, but there was something missing for me, something that kept me from fully engaging with the story. It was a fun and interesting take on the rich and powerful and how far the reach goes.

āPrivate Investigationsā is a must-have anthology for every mystery reader, the ultimate book for fans. This collection is uniquely compelling because the stories and essays are from twenty renowned writers who āmake upā things for a living. However, these are not āmade upā stories. These are personal stories, written from the heart. They are thought provoking, personal glimpses into the lives of favorite writers.
Writers recount growing up, going to libraries, achieving success, and adjusting to trauma. They share the mystery and power of words and the importance of learning words. Through words on a page, they create worlds of place and time that extend beyond the printed page.
āPrivate Investigationsā consists of personal stories, amusing stories, and stories that make readers think. I was given a copy ofā Private Investigationsā from Perseus Books, Seal Press, Hachette Book Group, and Victoria Zackheim, editor of the collection. Anthologies allow a reader to finish a quick and compelling story all in one sitting, but these stories will keep readers keep reading until the end.
