I chose to read this because I loved Aesop’s fables as a kid and am trying to read more nonfiction. This was a cross between animal references and characters and corporate structure.

I would have preferred each fable be a little longer, and maybe have some explanation/discussion afterwards about the lessons and meaning and how to apply that to the corporate world. For many of the fables it didn’t feel like the quick tale actually portrayed the lesson it was categorized as. I think adding a little length would have been beneficial. The connection between the animals and the corporate world was lacking, so using the animals did not really make sense. The fables felt unfinished (like the point wasn’t reached).

Overall this was a clever and unique idea- but the delivery was slightly underwhelming. I enjoyed the interspersed quotes after each section. For me that was the best part. This was a very quick read that could have benefitted by being a bit longer and including some explanation after each fable to really drive the point home.

Thank you to netgalley and lava gate press for the e-copy in exchange for a review.
