This kinda sucks since this will be in the back of my mind in the next book until this issue is resolved.

I'm just getting back into this series. the story could have been way more interesting for me, as a reader; there are some elements here that I find pretty interesting, if there were less of a focus on gross stuff and irreverent banter and more time spent developing the atmosphere in this weird, isolated haunted house. but that's NOT what this series is about; it's about snarky Stark making quips and taking hits. I'm curious how I would feel if I read book #1 for the first time now. in any case, this series has been with me for ~10 years and I'm going to finish it.

I hope it feels like there was a point to this later in the Sandman Slim series....'cause I sure don't see it now.

Short but sweet. A nice little story about Hell while we wait for the next book.
It comes with an excerpt from Devil Says Bang. I didn't read it. I want to read it all at once.

Kadrey isn't as good at short stories as he is at full length novels, a little heavy on the action and not enough on the exposition.

Another good Sandman Slim story. He is such a jerk to everyone, but a funny jerk.

Nice story, giving us a hint of what being Lucifer will do to Stark. Short and … well, not sweet at all, as Stark discovers, then forgets, that he's not the second but the third Lucifer.
