¿no?

NOTES:

Harleen: “Historias, entonces. ¿Historias de monstruos? Estoy interesada en ésas.”

Joker: “Estás en el lugar correcto.”

4.75 stars on this one. I can't quite give it 5 since I don't love the Joker's look and I haven't read the rest of the series, but this was as good a single issue as any comic I've read so far. The art overall is absolutely terrific, and the writing is just as good. There's quite a lot to unpack in this one, and I am seriously considering just buying the hardcover edition of the whole story and not just looking for the single issues, because I really want to know where this goes and I feel like the quality is good enough to warrant a hardcover purchase. Truly a terrific effort through and through.

This graphic novel if rated very highly but I find that I struggled to truly get into it however it does take me a bit longer to get into the scene in general. Despite this, it was enjoyable and I loved the art. I’m looking forward to wards to carrying on the series

I've never read any of the DC comics, but this was a nice story about Harleen and how she became Harley Quinn. The art was AMAZING😍

This is why I love DC Black Label, one of my favourite comics. Absolutely stunning artwork and a gripping story that does Harley Quinn’s origin story justice.

The art is fabulous.
But the writing isn't, its good writing and story but that's all.
We don't learn anything new about harley or delve deep into her psych, we sure as hell don't get any great retelling about anyone else.
The one scene i thought was actually great writing was harleen and harvey dent.
Also that one page when joker was identifying harley and he made her afraid, was great too.
Harley is hot, she is a hot nerd, shy, her face is beautiful and unique in a way, but she also gives off that vibe that she could be a crazy killer, i know i am describing her and we know she is, but that's how it feels anyway.
I need to look what else sejic made because, that art is worth seeing even if its a silent story..

While the art was lovely enough, the writing was extremely simplistic. This is my first Black Label read, which is supposed to be more adult, but this honestly feels like something I'd read online in middle school. It reads like a juvenile's interpretation of gritty, campy Lifetime movie. I have no doubts it's about to become every bit as steamy as flustered 13 year old would want it to be.

That's my bad in and of itself. This kind of reading can be fun, and I'll probably still check out #2, I was just expecting Black Label to be mature in a different way. The psychiatry here seems thinly researched if at all (it's not like humans losing empathy is groundbreaking news) and Harleen's in her mid-thirties yet people at work are still screaming about her sleeping with people in the hallways of her office. I don't know many professional settings populated with highly educated women that would see that as commonplace.

A note on the art: I've said it is lovely, and it is. But I'm really not a fan of the Joker's look in this. He's just some pretty boy white-collar crime looking human. There's not grit or chaotic, inhuman real danger to him. He looks more like the popular boy your mom warns you is bad news. (Do moms really do this? Mine never did.) I want that unnaturally stretched smile. I want him to truly look unhinged. The way he is now, I don't see how he's in Arkham and not Blackgate.
