I’ve gone off thrillers completely recently but this is one of the best psychological thrillers I have ever read. Megan Abbott owns this genre now as far as I’m concerned (with a little bit of room for Jessica Knoll).

A novel about 2 old friends. One has an old secret that the other helps her hide. They end up working in a lab together and have a strange connection to the woman who runs the lab. It was meant to be more mysterious than it was. I really didn't like the characters. The women work in a lab that is trying to discover a cure who severe pms, so it is meant to be a girl power book but it fails.

The atmosphere of the lab was spot on for anyone who has ever been in academia. I had nightmares.

Utterly enthralling and suspenseful... very dark and twisted and loved every minute of it
