LITERALLY TRIGGER WARNING EVERYTHING
i thought i was desensitized to anne rice but no im not this is the most atrocious book i have ever read. i could feel god's eyes watching me as i read. this is absolutely foul. no character is likeable, there's so much sex and it's not like it's sexy sex or anything. so much gross breastfeeding, pedophilia, etc. this is genuinely fucked up and i feel like i should be legally punished for reading this.

The stuff that’s great is wonderful, but this book glorifies the sexualization of underage characters and also features a very racist depiction of Roma people. I do like Anne Rice, but this book is very much not her best work. Feel free to skim through the first long chapter and Yuri’s first chapter early on.

It's so dark!!! There were many scenes in this book that made me suuuper uncomfortable but it was well written and I was glued to the page with need to find out more of the story.
That ending though! What a twist!

Second book in the Mayfair Trilogy. Less captivating than the first book but still interesting. You see Lasher as less of a haunting figure and more of a vulnerable confused child in this one and it makes you feel sorry for him. I was bothered by everyone’s blind acceptance of Mona and Michael. It didn’t seem consistent.
