I had heard this was the best of Oseman’s novels but tbh, I wasn’t convinced I’d even like this book for the first 70-100 pages. Everything felt…wrong and awkward, I guess. With the hint of a mystery.

What I learned was that that was the point. Frances and Aled and Daniel and everyone else was masking, unsure how to be true to themselves (and if they even could be). As our cast of characters grew, so did my fascination. Oseman (one again) created such a diverse world where young adults could figure themselves out (and see themselves represented) between the pages of a real-world story.

Aled and I are similar in a lot of ways, and I want to hug him. Finding out about the existence of the term “demisexual” turned my world upside down (in a good way) and Aled reminded me of this experience.

I wish nothing but the best for Oseman’s characters, but especially Aled, Nick, Tori, and Georgia.

P.s. I have yet to read “I Was Born For This” so that list may grow.

perhaps it's because i listened to the audiobook, but i really didn't enjoy this much.

there were a lot of good take home messages, especially in terms of inhibiting creativity and personal passions for success and financial well-being (no, kiddies, college is not for everyone). i also liked how all the different romantic relationships were addressed and not overly highlighted.

however, i wasn't a fan of the use of social media and technology to convey parts of the story. call me old fashioned, but a description of these "tumblr asks" would've been less painful than having to hear the audiobook narrator slowly read the urls of some of the involved blogs. maybe it's because i'm totally over my tumblr phase but i could've done without it.

wanted to love this book a lot more than i did, but i fell asleep at several points and cringed a lot in others. i see why it's popular and it's definitely a great story to tell, but not my cup of tea.

Actually ended up really liking this - the prose is simple which is the main drawback but I related heavily to the themes and Aled and Frances were captivating, relatable and fun to read about. I think this reminded me that even though I didn’t like Solitaire or Heartstopper v much, there are some topics that Oseman does really well and it goes alongside Loveless as a great YA contemporary to recommend.

Yet another Alice Oseman masterpiece that made me feel understood, safe and intrigued, with amazing characters, diversity and discussions of important topics, specially mental health related <3

I don't know how to rate this ... it feels wrong to rate this. The five stars are no rating, but a reminder of this book's importance.
