i liked concept of this book even though i’m not a huge fan of sci-fi. however, i could not take it seriously at several occasions. sometimes it all seemed too unrealistic, especially compared to the character development and being an influencer. it was hard focusing on both the storyline and the message behind.
-
i also did not like the description of the characters. they all came unnatural, especially how they looked. some description such as race came so late in the book it was hard for me to change my visual version of the characters
-
one thing i enjoyed however, was how green wrote april. she is a 23 year old woman, and though green is not, he wrote her realistically. i usually have a problem with millennial and late gen-x-ers because they tend to think that youths haven’t changed as much since they were young, and the only new things they add are cringy hobbies and characteristics such as buzzfeed and harry potter. hank green is not one of them. i could relate to april may in many ways since she was so nicely written.
-
i want to read the sequel even though this one was not my favorite. i am exited to see where the story is leading.
