This is a really sweet story.

I have to admit that I had some trouble connecting to Jordy, but in a way, the story was mostly about Owen, Jordy's hero, so I didn't mind it too much. And I really enjoyed Owen's personality. Strong but kind, gentle and protective. He's not perfect and it takes some time for him to realize that his responsibility is his own happiness, and not doing what other people want him to do.

The story has a light and heartwarming tone, but I liked how not everything was perfect and happy. Owen made some mistakes that hurt both Jordy and him. People at school weren't all accepting. Not every parent was supportive, yet they weren't cruel either. Even after deciding to pursue their own happiness, the struggles didn't just disappear. I really liked that.

My biggest complaint, however, was that there was way too much telling and not enough showing for my taste. There were so many things that I wanted to see and not just be told about. That's definitely one of the most important thing in a book for me personally.

Second, there was cheating (not between MCs), which is something I personally don't enjoy so I wish I knew about it before picking this up.
Owen has his first sexual experiment with Jordan while he's in relationship with Emily. He also sleeps with Emily even though he doesn't want to and there's a mention of how he used to imagine Jordy in Emily's place. I can understand why Emily was accepting when Owen broke up with her at the end, but how she was able to stay friends and continue hanging out with them...Idk.

But other than that, it was a really sweet read.

*General Notes*
-childhood friends, pining, protective LI.

*Intimacy Notes*
-Top/bottom/verse:
Not disclosed, as they don't go all the way on page.

-Kinks: one MC likes to be pinned down, while the other MC enjoys to pin down (
Jordy likes to be pinned down, Owen enjoys pinning him
)
-Other: protectiveness, quite mature communication (considering they're in high school)...

Love love love it! I loved how Jordan was such a fun narrator. And I loved how Owen was so mature for his age, but that didn't make him impervious to lying to himself and making some blind, stupid mistakes. Best of all I loved their friendship and their love for each other. This book made me go all mushy and I'll definitely keep an eye on the author for some more awwwwsomenes.

Voto: 4.5 stelline.
Oh, d’accordo.

What a beautiful story of friendship and love. Really lovable characters and some really well written scenes. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a young boy's dream come true. It's not all fluff but it certainly wasn't real life. A very sweet story that I would highly recommend. Am going to be exploring more from this author for sure!

Okay, I loved this. Read it in one sitting (maybe two hours). Super cute, without too much angst.
Almost sobbed at 84% when my Kindle ran out of charge but luckily I had downloaded it to my Nook as well, so I managed to finish it off without having to waiting for the Kindle to get enough charge to reopen (or sit on the floor next to the plug socket - I would have, to finish the book!)

Why not 5 stars? First person pov for both MC's, and on a few occasions I had to read back a couple of lines to remember whose pov I was in.

Eta:second read Nov 2014 one of the few books that holds up and still makes me so happy.

This book was totally adorable, I had a smile on my face almost the entire story. The only time that smile slipped was the first sex between Owen and Jordan, because it seemed totally out of character to who Owen was. He was such a wonderful, do the right thing type, that I don't see him cheating, no matter what the situation was.

But all in all, this was the cutest book, and I loved watching them grow up, with a chapter for several stages of their lives, from Kindergarten, on up to high school.

I read a book a few weeks ago that was really similar, only it did NOT give me the HEA for the boys, and I was SO happy to get my fix with this story.
