Literary Sci-Fi. I could not wait to get back to it each evening.

Sentences are short. Maybe people call this style. I'm not sure. It doesn't foster empathy. It's more like monotony. Caused a month-long reading slump. It still won awards. Hope it encourages prospective authors. The quality of their work is enough for Booker Prize.

Hmm, maybe this is just a bit beyond me. I think I don't get it.

Beautiful, compelling writing and many poignant moments, but the story ultimately didn't come together enough to work for me. It felt too fragmented, more like ideas of a story.

Brilliant last four pages. But a souless book on the whole. It felt like the main character was made female to make things more interesting.
