5 ⭐️ series!!
The series started out as lighthearted but the tone shifted to more dark while still staying very funny. I love the characters so much, and you can tell how much Ryoko Kui also loves them.
The series has really interesting worldbuilding. The fantasy world feels familiar (especially to a dnd nerd like myself) but still has surprises I haven’t seen in other media, like some fun new interpretations of classic monsters.
The creepy horror elements suited the story really well. It got pretty weird toward’s the end, I mostly loved it but sometimes didn’t fully understand what was happening.
Love that there was one whole volume after the final battle so the ending didn’t feel rushed.
I love this story so much and the pretty artstyle. I will miss Dungeon Meshi.
Moderate: Death, Gore, and Cannibalism
