Very cute. I'm not generally a haiku person, but I actively enjoyed the format in this book.

One of those books that are cool to adults but not so much for kids. For picture-book-aged kids, the connections between pages are hard to follow. So it will take quite a bit of extra storytelling on the adult's part. Which is fine, I think it's important to have those types of discussions about poetry and abstract or implied connections with kids, but it's not exactly bedtime material. I saw some other reviews from teachers using this to teach haiku in the classroom--great idea! This book is great for explaining that poetry uses a lot of "holes" and our imagination gets to fill those holes in.

Might have gotten a little teary eyed for some reason, not gonna lie.
This was a cute little book, and I enjoyed reading it.

We loved this delightful tale of a shelter cat who finds a home. The poems were spot on and many made us laugh out loud!

3rd-5th grades were all beginning their poetry units in the CCCS so I relished being able to take them gem from my shelf.
How I love this aloof cat.

Helpful author's note gives a brief overview of the 5-7-5 pattern, as well as the difference between haiku (about nature) and senryu (human nature, or in this case: cat).
This would be a fun way to introduce haiku to students because of the way they play with the "look" of the poems. (one page spreads the 7 line into a series of one word illustrated lines down the middle of the page).

I loved it! Funny and touching feline biography told in haiku. The last one is the best.
