Listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it, it was the perfect thing to pick up every so often and listen to a couple stories, I think I'm going to have to start listening to more anthologies

My two absolute standouts were Eye and Tooth by Rebecca Roanhorse (fantasy, monster-hunting siblings both with different specialized abilities) and The Rider by Tananarive Due (sisters taking a bus to join the freedom riders but things don't go as planned, spooky ghosts and some cathartic karma), both were 5 stars for me but for different reasons and I'm definitely going to be checking out more by both authors

1. Reckless Eyeballing: 3
2. *Eye & Tooth: 5, so freaking good!! I would read an entire book about these siblings and I'm definitely going to be checking out more by Rebecca Roanhorse
3. Wandering Devil: 3
4. *Invasion of the Baby Snatchers: 4, honestly wasn't expecting to like this one just based on the concept but both the writing and performance were very engaging and I really enjoyed it
5. The Other One: 2
6. Lasiren: 3.5, made me cry :(
7. *The Rider: 5, fantastic!! The tension,, the atmosphere, the pacing, just everything was done so well with a great pay off at the end
8. The Aesthete: 1.5
9. Pressure: 2.5
10. *Dark Home: 4, so glad the dog didn't die
11. Flicker: 3.5
12. The Most Strongest Obeah Woman of the World: 3.5
13. The Norwood Trouble: 3
14. A Grief of the Dead: 2.5
15. *A Bird Sings by the Etching Tree: 4, I love a story from the ghost's perspective
16. An American Fable: 3
17. *Your Happy Place: 4.5, you have an idea of what it's going to be from the beginning but it's just superbly well done
18. *Hide and Seek: 4.5, this stressed me the fuck out, very creepy at times
19. Origin Story: 2

distinct lack of shivers going down my spine. i don't know if i would class many of these as horror, per se, but there's value to be gleaned from each story in their own way :)

the star of the show by far was The Most Strongest Obeah Woman of the World by Nalo Hopkinson! god, but she shines. 🌟

honourable mentions:
Invasion of the Baby Snatchers by Lesley Nneka Arimah
Lasirèn by Erin E. Adams
Flicker by L. D. Lewis
A Grief of the Dead by Rion Amilcar Scott

A smorgasbord of the best voices in Black Horror, there is a variety of stories that focus on a diverse set of fears. Even the stories that I was not entirely enthralled with were still  impressive.
