Holy wow this is an incredible book.  Everything written is so captivating. The poetic journey through and into mental illness is stunning. I don't think my words can do justice to how this made me feel, so I will leave you with a 5 star review and that this is a work of art.

TW: suicidal ideation, graphic descriptions of mental illness, self harm

I feel like I wrote a short story almost identical to this book when I was 13, everything I wrote had to be meaningful, and the darkest place I knew was an institution after binging 20 other Creepypastas that also took place in said institution.  This book is by far not the worst thing I've read but it's definitely not up there in memorable ranks either. The author jostles you around in the book which is meant to give off the same confusion the protagonist is going through, but it instead makes the ending and events that happen clear from the first few pages. The characters are unlikeable and edgy, the writing is bland, and the book takes itself so seriously it's laughable. My final irk is the 'interludes' between events; they weren't needed and felt like the page long inclusions of author notes I see in fanfictions where they warn you it's about to get even worse when in fact it just gets worse in regards to writing and plot creation. It's a book that's about 150 pages and if you have the urge to read a short book that's reminiscent of your emo teen years, it's pretty good just don't expect much.
TW that's not on the list includes graphic depictions of
insects(maggots), eating insects

I’ve been on an amazing roll of exceptional reads. I don’t know what’s going on but I’m just happy that it’s happening.

The Bell Chime is unnerving from the very beginning and it’s getting all five of my stingy stars. Although I haven't been super grinchy with them in 2021! I’m starting to sound like a broken record and this is such a strange spot for grouchy me to be in!

A young novelist spots a strangely sinister missing persons poster tacked to the door inside of her apartment complex. The poster features her face but her face is twisted in a weird way! What the heck? And things, well, things only get weirder from here and I am not going to spoiler any of it for you.

The Bell Chime is crawl under your skin creepy and impressively disturbing and at one point incredibly gross and it will more than likely confuse you. It confused me and I was pretty sure it was going to break my brain by the time all was said and done but it’s also incredibly readable. And the way it all comes together in the end is exquisite! Perfect really. I don’t have a single complaint. Books like these are welcome to break my brain any day of the week. My highest recommendation. I think everyone should read it! Right. This. Minute!
