I didn’t realize so much of the book was involving depictions of child abuse.

Not sure if I can say I liked it.
To be honest, most of the book is actually excellent and suspenseful. When I was at 70% of it I thought it must be a five stars read.
But when the truth of the mystery is revealed, GOD SAVE ME! It's simply disgustingly perverted that I almost vomit.
Now, I really need a good Rom-Com to recover from this 🥲

✦I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney✦
★★★★★ 5/5 stars

“Not everybody wants to be somebody. Some people just want to be somebody else.”

✦ synopsis
Aimee Sinclair is the actress everyone thinks they know but can't remember where from.
Aimee has a secret she's never shared, and yet, she suspects someone knows. When she comes home to find her husband missing and all evidence points to her, she struggles to keep her career and sanity intact.
Someone knows who Aimee is. And they know what she did. Her past comes back to haunt her, forcing her to play one of her biggest roles yet.

✦ my thoughts
It’s no secret that Alice Feeney is one of my favorite authors. She’s so clever & creative with her storylines, & her ability to turn a phrase is unmatched. After reading this one, I have officially read all of her backlist! I have loved every single book, but this one takes the cake as the most chilling, unpredictable, disturbing one yet - & I freaking loved it.

I really couldn't put it down, a wonderful roller coaster ride of a read. The anxiety I felt alone was 5☆ quality. This one is pretty controversial, but to me, sometimes a jawdropping, outlandish, unhinged ending just works. Easily one of the most insane books I’ve ever read, & one I won't soon forget, which is why it gets 5 stars from me.

✦ Read if you :
-have a traumatic hamster story
-like a child’s pov
-like thrillers with more twists than a pretzel factory
-like unreliable narrators
-like short, suspenseful chapters
-are down for an insanely mind boggling ending

PS - Stephanie Racine absolutely crushed the narration of this audiobook, as per usual. I would listen to her read the phone book.

*I Know Who You Are is not for the faint of heart - but if you love a dark, twisty thriller, I say bump this up your TBR! (Check trigger warnings, as there are several)

Book was almost decent until that disgusting twist at the end.. it made the whole story far fetched as well.

Now THAT was a twist I didn’t expect(eeked out is an understatement). If I’d been reading it in physical book form,I’d want to boil it.

Listened to it on 1.5 speed.I’m not sure if it’s the writing or the voice actor’s reading pace, but if it’s on normal speed I zone out within 5 minutes.Speeding it up turned it into a straight-through listen.
