Toe-tapping nursery songs + vehicles = a smashingly good read. Wish we'd had this book when my car-loving brother was growing up. It would've been shelved next to Richard Scarey's Busytown.

Fun fun illustrations (as always with Trucktown), cute characters. Good read-a-loud.

Children will love the repetative nature of the rhymes and the older ones might even recognize them from the originals. Adults will like how thr rhymes have been adapted from the ones with which they are familiar. Some humour, both broad and subtle, help move the stories along.

There is nothing cuter than Jacob reciting "Three Loud Trucks" with his emphasis.

The poems were funny. Kids would have fun matching them to the nursery rhymes they parody, then writing their own versions.

My son found Truckery Rhymes and the library and insisted that we take it home ā Iām glad we did! Itās a fantastic little book of alternative lyrics for well-known nursery rhymes, all having to do with trucks. āRing Around the Rosieā becomes āSwing Around with Rosieā about Rosie the wrecking ball crane, for example.
My son really enjoyed the truck-based lyrics, and I loved the little jokes ā the places where the rhythm is disrupted for comedic effect, for example. The illustrations are gorgeous and have really captivated my 2.5 year old son. Each image is very lively and interesting.
I also appreciate the gender balance in the book. Most truck-based books are marketed towards boys and donāt have any female vehicles ā or, if they do, the female vehicles arenāt very interesting (Iām looking at you, Sally from Cars). But here, there are a few female trucks ā only one of which is pink. They are strong (Rosie is a wrecking ball crane!), they are active, and there is nothing to separate them from the male trucks.
So far, weāve only had the book a few hours, but weāve already read it through at least half a dozen times. I definitely recommend it!

Read this with my son last night; documenting it for Book Bingo 2016 with Lizz the Librarian :)
He loves it. I'm over it, but it's still cute sometimes.
