So I expected this book to be a fluffy light read for pride month but it was so much more than that! I laughed, I cried, I had to stop reading the book now and then to absorb the cuteness. It truly gives you all the feels, and in such a short page count (which I appreciated because honestly I feel a lot of books are longer than necessary.) This book is one of my new favourites that I'd recommend to anyone and I'm very excited for the authors next novel.⠀

“Life was too short to play chicken with something as important as the person you loved.”

I honestly fell in love with this book so much. It’s just a good old cheesy rom com and those will never grow old. I truly think I could enjoy every single queer rom com because they just feel so fresh despite using overused tropes. I just love seeing queer love in a genre that’s sort of dominated by straight couples.

I really just adored the main romance, they just felt like such a realistic depiction of young love and the challenges that can come with that. Something else that I appreciated is that despite all of the misunderstandings between the main couple, it was so easy to see both of their sides throughout. Neither of them ever felt like they were overreacting, it simply felt like they were just displaying their genuine feelings.
Spoiler The issue within their relationship of Will not wanting to come out was a real issue that a lot of people, including me have been through. Will is perfectly valid to not want to come out because the environment he's in doesnt feel safe but on the flip side, Ollie is allowed to not want to be treated like a secret (as long as he’s understanding of Will’s situation).

Spoiler However to me, the part that really impacted me was the exploration of death and grief with Ollie’s Aunt. Seeing how it affected everyone and him not knowing how to deal with processing his own grief and loss really hit close to home.

I loved it! Cute, real, relatable, emotional (I was teary-eyed on multiple occasions). Such an easy read.
And oh my god YES to Niamh having PCOS!!! I’ve never seen that be represented in a book before, love that! Can’t believe she was called that in an American book though - the way they wrote out her name for the pronunciation made me laugh
