Ein bisschen zu kitschig und zwischendurch auch echt etwas merkwürdig, aber trotzdem ganz nett als Zeitvertreib. 

Ein paar Sachen fand ich etwas zu klischeehaft, schwierig und etwas überaltert . Beispielsweise die Aussage, dass Jungen Mädchen schupsen wenn Sie sie mögen. 
Zumal die Geschichte auch ohne viele dieser Kleinigkeiten funktioniert hätte.

I f*cking loved this dang book. I thought nothing would equal The First Bright Thing this year, but holy god this book was fabulous. It was everything I wanted and more. Whimsical, heart warming, sweet yet also bittersweet, just a perfect little book to make you feel lots of things. Truly, this book had such wonderful character development and showed the joy of how books can heal and how books can connect even the most outcast of society.

Die Beschreibung auf dem Buch und andere Rezensionen haben mich angelogen. Das war kein herzerwärmendes Buch, sondern zum großen Teil einfach nur deprimierend und hoffnungslos.

Ich bin immer noch am überlegen, ob das Buch zwei oder drei Sterne verdient hat. Manche Sachen fand ich ganz schön, andere ganz furchtbar und störend. Ich finde es nämlich respektlos, Leuten Namen von Romanfiguren zu geben und sie nicht mit ihren gegebenen Namen (bzw wie sie gerne genannt werden wollen) anzusprechen. Außerdem

häusliche Gewalt aufzunehmen und dann so zu tun, als wäre am Ende Friede, Freude, Eierkuchen.

Wenn ich so darüber nachdenke werden es doch nur zwei Sterne.

The first third was rather sagging, so that I couldn’t really see why the book is a bestseller. In the last third however I had tears in my eyes on almost every page 😅 

I’ve read that this book comes of as a parable in another review, which I’ve got to agree with. Some of the problems mentioned were solved in a “childish” or “superficial” way or only mentioned briefly, but all in all this is warm little novel that manages to open one’s heart a little wider.
