What a fun ride. This was not high brow literature, but it wasn't trying to be; it was a fun, funny, sometimes gross romp.
I love unique twists on the zombie genre, and this was a good one.

An amazing, page-turning thriller. Koepp uses cinematic story telling to keep you on the edge of your seat - reading the book feels like watching a block buster movie.

I wanted to like this so badly… Plot was unique and scary, and I loved the explanation of the fungus “from its own perspective” - super cool.

BUT. For me personally, little bits of humor and the “quirky” characters took me completely out of the creepiness and tense feelings of the story and just made it okay. Soooo disappointing 😞 i also really didn’t care about the 2 main characters and 3rd “main” character either. Not likable to me, and I feel like I really didn’t even know the woman at all.

**Audiobook: Also, Rupert Friend has a great voice for narration but DANG he talks fast!! I had to slow down my playback speed twice to keep up!

This book blew me away! It's incredibly unique in that it balances highly tense moments with almost heartwarming ones. The characters genuinely are lovable which makes the book even scarier for you. This honestly may be my new favorite thriller. It's such a perfect book. If you're seeing this, please read it

Edit upon reread: this book still holds a unique place for me. It's so rare to find a character driven thriller where the characters are not irredeemable jerks. This may be the only thriller to ever make me tear up. The plot is really good. The use of the perspective from the fungus riddled mind is phenomenal. I'll be trying to find something else like this for a long while
