The Stolen Princess is different from the previous two books and I was here for it! Kortney was able to show great depth to her writing by adding in a suspense plot along with incredible character arcs of the two main characters. I don’t know anyone who didn’t want Drake’s story after reading The Promised Prince! His player attitude and overall personality was perfect for this storyline and I love that Myka comes in and changes his outlook on everything.

Keisel’s voice for her characters make them relatable and still manages to keep them refreshing, new and exciting! Some of my favorite aspects of this book are our modern day references and personality quirks from the main characters…especially Myka’s nicknames for the people she meets. They had me laughing out loud each time. Her word games make me want to play and see if anyone around me catches on. I loved seeing so much growth in a character and Myka’s character is constantly growing and changing so much throughout this book. Drake reminds me a lot of Jess on Gilmore Girls. His bad boy, carefree attitude (without the jerk factor) was fun to watch change once he met Myka. The hair scarf, flirtations and letters are the only things I’ll mention to try and keep this spoiler free!

One last reminder to please, please, please read The Promised Prince before you read this one. It is crucial that these two are read in order. I highly recommend ALL of Kortney’s books! If you like YA, entertaining character banter and unpredictable storylines then you’ll want to be sure to grab this one!

Thanks to the author for the copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Enemies-to-lovers kind of novel is my absolute favorite kind of novel which is one of the reason why I really like this series.

This book is well written and the pacing is great which managed to keep me reading in one sitting. Same with the previous books, I really love the setting of the post-desolation world and it's always nice to see some artifacts from our time in the story.

The characters are great and well developed. I really like Myka and Drake's relationship with the flirting and the bantering they had throughout the story. The flirting and humor in this story definitely balance the serious political atmosphere in the story. Although I have to say they become attracted to each other too fast in the beginning and I fear it would become some sort of instant-love relationship. But, it all changed in the middle of the story when doubt and confusion is involved and make them hesitant toward each other even though it was obvious they already fell for each other from the start. But it's still nice seeing their chemistry grow throughout the story.

I've said this when I read the second book that King Adler was a jerk but
SpoilerI kind of hoping it's only a facade and we can get another side of his story. That prologue which gives us a scene of how he interacts with his daughter give me hope for him that deep down he might be a decent king. I thought that evil commander is giving him some bad influence on how he rules his kingdom and I probably would tolerate him a little. But after knowing Myka's mother story all hope was gone. That man was truly evil. Honestly, I feel a bit disappointed that he ended up being the bad guy all along and my heart breaks when Myka find out about it especially about her mother.

Overall, this book is funny, entertaining and very enjoyable to read. The epilogue is very unexpected and I'm really looking forward to read the next book and which kingdom will be involved in the story.

A slow start, but this was another great book in this series! The ending left some questions unanswered, but I’m hoping that we’ll get answers in the next book!

You guys!! The Promised Prince was good and entertaining. But this! Woah! Myka has my heart. She is such a strong and loyal girl. I love that she is willing to do anything and everything for those that she loves. Even if that loyalty is bestowed on the wrong person. Plus, I’m a sucker for any sort of enemies to lovers trope.

Like the first two books, I liked the plot and world building, but I couldn't stand Myka and the romance. I should have steered clear from this book the moment I read the synopsis and knew this was an enemies to lovers romance. But I held out hope, wanting to love this like I did the first two, but found it had everything that makes me hate this trope.

Myka acted incredibly childish, arrogant, and immature in the beginning. She kept assuming things about Drake and the whole time I wanted to yell at her to shut up and grow up. Drake also could have been honest from the start. Same with Myka. What's so hard with just telling the truth? It's also super unrealistic for a guy/girl to still like someone who is frustrating and childish. I would NEVER want to be with a guy who was frustrating to me. Of course this is fiction, but can't it also be realistic in some ways? Especially when it comes to relationships? How could Drake have liked her with everything she did? Also, even though the two shared intimate moments together, Drake proving himself trustworthy, she was still too stubborn to trust him. I mean, enough to want to kill him with a knife? That's going too far. That's border line abuse there.

I found myself skim the rest of the book because I just didn't care anymore. I'm probably not going to read another enemies to lovers book. I've just lost hope in it.

Ok

I found it took me some time to 'warm up' to this story. Plus, all the names at the beginning was a bit confusing. Am I supposed to remember who they all are?! Anyway, it got better as it went along. By the end, it was really good. Wish there was more of the end bit.

this is the third novel in the desolation series. each one is standalone (for the most part) but they are best enjoyed read in order.

this one killed me.

im lying on the floor dead right now.

still processing everything.

i read the whole thing in one sitting. it was that amazing. there was so much tension that was thankfully resolved. if it wasn't i probably would have died on the spot. but i just died from the whole thing, yknow?

i've never read something like this. it's really new to me, and i hope that other stockholm syndrome books are as wholesome as this (not that im reading them) and the plot twist at the end just was the cherry on top of the banana split (i forgot the real phrase.)

if you like: wholesomeness, a strong female lead, a tender and clean romance, and just like an amazing story, then this book is for you.

anything kortney keisel writes will automatically go to the top of my tbr from now on. just--mindblowing. dead. finished. i had so much fun reading this.

conclusion: 5/5 stars

You know when you finish a book and it takes you a while to pick up another because you're still processing what you just read? That was The Stolen Princess for me in the best way possible! Kortney's Desolation Series is filled with hilarious, endearing, and relatable characters and The Stolen Princess has all of that and more. I knew that Princess Myka would be a perfect match for Drake (siiigh) because she was able to keep him on his toes. Their witty banter was super entertaining!

I enjoyed learning more about the post desolation world and the dynamics between the kingdoms. It really added to the story! I also appreciated the complicated relationship that Myka had with her father. It really added to her character development and made you understand the choices that she made. This was my favorite book out of the three that I've read!

Where all my player/bad (but really good) boy fans at?!? Y’all this book deserves all of the hype...... I have read it 3 times and I don’t normally read books more than once..... I LOVE THIS BOOK!

Synopsis:
In Post-desolation, Myka, a somewhat naive and determined Princess, must overcome her personal biases and trust issues to save herself and her kingdom. While Drake, must quit his player ways, and figure out what he actually wants in life.

(Guys.... I know I wrote a short synopsis..... I have re-written it like 5 times because I was giving too much away. So this is what you get!)

Review: Um...... where do I even start? Just read it. It is the best book like ever. You need to read “The Promised Prince” first so it makes sense, especially the twists it takes! But oh my GOODNESS, this book between the character development, the scene/world building, the premise of essentials, and don’t even get me started on the Romance...... because AHHHHHH!!!
