A full and vivid depiction of life as a young person outside of the big cities in Texas. The care and attention that is given to describing the environment that Midland is situated in and the animals that inhabit it is lovely and breathes a lot of life into this book. Logen also tackles challenging topics with a deft hand and a light touch. As an archaeologist, I was thrilled to see La Belle get a mention in a poem!

A deeply emotional and somewhat sad collection of poems. It’s coming of age, queer; you could feel the weight these have on the author in each piece. The verse is insightful, yet straightforward. I found some pieces lacked more depth for me, but it was also hopeful despite the somber and sometimes dark tone.

Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the arc!
