An enjoyable adventure with a pretty lacking Miss Marple presence, I enjoyed the way she flitted in and out of the story and how the murder took centre stage as a result, but I did feel she was a little robbed as such a secondary character.

I have a lot of fondness and nostalgia for Agatha Christie murder mysteries (like a lot of people). Even as a child I loved their signature charm, cozy yet tense atmosphere, well executed twists and excentric yet likable characters. Reading as an adult I'm realizing I never gave enough credit to the quality of the writing itself. Aside from the skillful plotting and foreshadowing, I was very impressed by the amazing flow, set-dressing that was never to the detriment of the story, and light social commentary. The main characters were very likable too and I didn't mind them taking the spotlight despite being a Miss Marple stan.
As for the mystery itself, it's a pretty standard and decent one. The past element of it makes it somewhat unique, and it's satisfying to see the pieces come together, but personally I didn't have a big OH SHIT moment with it like I had with other Agatha Christie stories.
Overall liked it! Recommended if you like Miss Marple stories lmao what else can I say.
