I will come back to re-read this soon and do the written exercises. I learned a lot about the history and development of the concept of race and how it effected people in the past and how it continues in the present.

I really loved this book it’s so informative and I loved when she gave the words she was explaining a definition of her own and backed up why she did and I understand why and how she said when there’s no such thing as being racist to white people cause there’s not with no system behind them there is for sure prejudice but no system unlikes bipoc people

As an educator I’m constantly on the lookout for books that cover racism and anti-racism in a way that my students can understand, and this book definitely hits the nail on the head! Having a word bank in the back is a great resource so kids don’t get discouraged when they run across a word they don’t understand, and every concept is unpacked deeply. The journal prompts are great too since they will get them REALLY thinking about what they’re reading instead of just skimming through it.
This is immediately going into my classroom library!
