"If anyone so much as attempts to lay a finger on you, Red, then they will find themselves without that finger. And possibly without the arm that finger was attached to."

following the revelations at the end of book one, we pick up where we left off and we're hit with alll the tension between Elara and Carnon, but the sarcastic banter we know and love is still going strong!

I loved getting to know the side characters better in this book, especially seeing more of Cerridwen and Brigid!

the world building was great but doesn't overpower the plot, and the way the pieces of Elara's story are starting to fall into place have me excited for book three!

this was an ARC read in exchange for an honest review.

✨"Who told you?"…..pulling back so he could meet my eyes. He was breathing heavily, and something smoldered in his gaze. Not anger really, but a kind of furious incendiary need.

"It doesn't matter," I whispered, my own chest heaving as I held his stare. "Don't stop." He didn't move, just continued staring at me.

I licked my lips and lifted my head, brushing a gentle kiss against his pursed lips. "Please."

The pacing was odd in some places - fast and then too slow. Most of the book was surrounding the characters, saving the plot for close to the end.

Not as good as the first, but it was a decent continuation. I look forward to seeing how it wraps up.

Didn't like this one as much as the last one...

I still find the overall plot to be intriguing enough to keep going and it was still an easy, fast-paced fantasy, but the main character was rally grating on me this time around. The first half of the book she was so whiny and back and fourth with our MMC, then finds out a piece of information and automatically completely changes her tune.

The plot we were following/working towards last book also felt very much in the background to the characters feelings/relationship this time around and didn't really come into play until the last like 70 pages or so. I hope in the next book we get more of the original style/plot from book one.
