Wow this book was such a pleasant surprise. I have a bad track record with contemporary romances and I think I finally found one that I genuinely enjoyed.
The author did such a beautiful job of writing a story about dealing with grief of losing a loved one to su*cide, finding and losing someone you love, self discovery, and so much more.
I don’t think there was a single character I disliked. Everyone was given such well written personalities and backstories. Nothing about them felt cliche or surface level.
My only main issues was that certain parts became very repetitive and I felt like the romance aspect suffered because of it. I savored the moments between Iwan and Clementine and wish some of the repetitive paragraphs had been traded in for more of their love story.
All the aside I’m really glad I decided to read this and I will definitely be adding the authors other books to my TBR!

This book is the best book I’ve read in years. I finished it in a few hours; I couldn’t stop reading. It warms your heart: the characters, the story, the dialogue. It also breaks that same heart. I finished the book 15 minutes ago, and I am still crying from the beauty and heartache. It is a hopeful book, but exposes the humanity and ache of love and grief. I found myself in Clementine, the way she approaches life and loves so deeply. I also found myself falling in love with Iwan. I wanted to go on trips with her aunt, sit in that wing-back chair. So much of the story is palpable and beautiful. I lost my child-hood friend to suicide 6 months ago, the same time in the book that Clementine had lost her aunt. I feel like I was meant to read this; my seven year in the future me would come in to my house, and place this book in my hands, and tell me to feel. Tell me to heal. There are only a handful of books I think about all the time, even as an avid reader. This is going to be one of them. It is going to rest in my bones and mind, run the space inside my skull, and ask to be examined again. I know it. I cannot give higher praise for this book. Easily, one of my favorite of all time.

Always chase the moon
The Seven Year Slip was a cute time travel rom com with themes of grief and finding your passion.
The romance was sweet if a little insta-lovey. I like the nicknames. The side characters were charming. The pacing was good.
I enjoyed it but not as much as I thought I would.
This book made me realize why I read mostly YA… from the very beginning with the characters starting off at this high end restaurant talking about the wine. Every dinner scene after that they’re drinking wine or beer with their meal. I’m just like so tired of alcohol/wine culture being so normalized. Maybe I also just don’t relate to Clementine because she’s privileged, gets to travel wherever and go to these fancy fine dining places.

I tried to read this book after reading Song Of Achilles. I was not ready, I was still mourning the last book and the pace at first was too slow. So it sat unread for a few months before I finally came back. And I fell in love quickly. It was such a beautiful cheesy and nostalgic read In the way that makes you want to experience your first love again. It had me tearing up and rooting for the characters happy ending in such a sad set of circumstances. And I think the grief handled in this book was handled well.
