Both the main characters are kind of annoying and I didn't particularly like either of them but it was a cute story

Thank you to Melanie Summers and Netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book I’ve read by Melanie and both are fantastic. This book is clever and funny.

This book was a solid 3 for me up until the last 25%. This is when it went so sideways and I was honestly tempted to throw my eReader across the room.

1) the author went with the "I made decisions on your behalf and assumed you would love it but didn't. So because of that you are ungrateful" it is REAL hard to redeem the main male character after making them say and think horrible things.

2) the authors descriptions of "poor, pathetic loser nerds who attend comic conventions" was honestly rude af. I can't even excuse the author because this was written post game of thrones and the increase popularity of comic cons.

For what was meant to be a "laugh out loud" romantic comedy, it did not make me laugh, but instead left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

BOOK REVIEW⠀
BOOK: Whisked Away
AUTHOR: Melanie Summers
@mj_summers_author

I apologize to everyone involved, this one got away from me. I was supposed to review it before but then I got bogged down with other blog tours and whatnot...blah blah blah. It’s no excuse. BUT maybe I am a bit of a pleasure delayer. Because this book was so enjoyable. It is the second in the series, and while that is usually frustrating to me to start in the middle, in this case it was no problem. Can’t wait to go back and read the others in this series.

This book is funny, and in a totally unexpected way. The characters make you fall in love and the connections between them are totally believable. I fully believe that this author will be on my “Must Read All” list!!!!

Synopsis (from Goodreads):
At twenty-seven years old, Emma Banks has big plans for her life. After graduating from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America, she's ready to take her place as head chef at one of her family’s resort restaurants. But upon arrival at Paradise Bay, she’s shuffled off to the resort’s new private island getaway, where she’ll be stuck catering to the rich and shameless. Her first assignment is to serve Pierce Davenport, an infuriatingly arrogant writer with a palate that’s about as adventurous as a plain boiled potato.

I received this book for review purposes from NetGalley. ⠀

Quick cute read, perfect for holiday time.
Loved Emma, her family and the whole Paradise Bay theme. In fact it is quite clever how Melanie Summers manages to bring "old" characters from previous books to life so you get a glimpse of how their story continues (and now I obviously want to read book three to see what Mr.Leo does next). I didn't quite like Pierce (what a prick!!!) or actually their love story but oh well... I still had a good time reading. Some scenes where hilarious (iguana breakfast war? Neil Diamond singing? Description of boat house?:P) and liked the writer angle.

PS: why is there a motorbike on the cover???
