Overall it was an ok book. I was a little bored at times. I appreciated the unique perspective on French culture that rang true with my own experiences.

Lovely transporting read. I loved the author’s humorous approach to what sounded like a nightmare house remodel.

Funny and enlightening if you've ever been to Provence and experienced some of these wacky episodes yourself. An enjoyable read, though not perfect literature.

Delightful tale that takes you month-by-month through a British couple's relocation to Provence, France for their first year. Much of the book is occupied with their tales of owning and remodeling an old farmhouse in the countryside, but throughout you meet interesting neighbors, hear whimsical tales, and read a lot about French food, wine, and olive oil. A nice way to be transported into another culture for a quick read.

This was my introduction to travel writing when I was 13, and it showed me, more than fantasy ever did, that one could be at home and travel still. :)

Fun little travel book that had me drooling over the food descriptions from January through December. Loved how Mayle incorporated the French words throughout, as it was nice to brush up on my language and finally learn the words for certain things. Now I'm itching to return to Provence!
