All the stars. I loved all of this and it was the perfect time for me to read it. My writerly, storytelling heart needed this book.

“Each and every one of us is born with our own stories and we must decide how to tell them.”
This book was extraordinary mix of fiction and history and a touch of whimsy. I enjoyed each moment with George and his older sister Meg. When George is 8 years old, he is a sickly boy with a heart condition and spends much time reading. He discovers CS Lewis and the world of Narnia. He wants to know how the author created the world. His sister, Meg, is a student at Oxford where Mr. Lewis tutors so she tries to discover answers for her brother.
I truly loved this book.. It’s magical in the way the author describes the love of books and writing and imagination. We also learn so much about CS Lewis as a person and the beginnings of the world of Narnia. Highly recommend for fans of The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe fans as well as historical fiction fans.

I purposely saved this book for December figuring it would be a perfect mood read. While I enjoyed it, I didn't love it. It just never drew me in. This could be because I felt the same way about The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I never loved that story either (Gasp!)

I knew that this book would be one I would enjoy. I knew I would be kicking myself for waiting so long to read it. What I didn’t know was this would become one of my favorites of the year and definitely among my all time favorites.
I’ve long been a fan of CS Lewis in general and Narnia in particular. The care that Patti Callahan took with this book is admirable and her writing is exquisite. I will be working through her backlist because I don’t think I can get enough of her work.
