Lovely cookbook! I loved how she made it into not just a cookbook but almost as a family book, full of pictures, stories, and nothing but good words about everyone, and how she demonstrates her faith. I also love that she had other people put in their recipes as well and not just her own.
As for the food, my favourite so far is the mac and cheese, good old fashioned southern cooking. Is she the best cook in the world? I do have better cookbooks but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I definitely want to try other stuff. The only thing is, I'm not used to all that butter!

I admit that I'm surprised by how much I liked this book! I entered to win it through First Reads so that I could give it to a friend. It arrived today and I read it cover to cover so that I could review it. While it does have a section of wild game recipes that I won't be cooking from (though my friend might), I actually took note of many recipes that I am going to try - from meals to sides to desserts. I put it on my Christian shelf and memoir shelf in addition to my cookbook shelf because interspersed with the recipes are Bible passages and stories about Miss Kay and the Robertsons.

I can't believe I won another book through Goodreads First Reads! A very good friend is a hunter and got a group of us into watching Duck Dynasty together each week. It is completely ridiculous show, and I never would have watched it on my own, but it is funny. So, I entered this to give as a gift to my friend - after I read and review it of course!

Not really my kind of food and i have never watched the show. Interesting section on wild game cooking, but I'm a vegetarian. Good for wild hog eaters.
