This book reminded me of Outlander (-series), and as I didn’t really like that book/series, I’m not a huge fan of this either.
It’s very much a family saga, absolutely, with a little bit of romance and adventure. It also depicts white saviour trope surprisingly well, and that’s probably what bothered me.
Both the main female characters were so perfect (in their own way), it was annoying. The funniest thing in this book is however James MacKenzie. Is there no other name for a Scotsman?
