Firstly, this book has many triggers so be careful before you read.
This book was very fast paced so was a quick and easy read.

Pros:
  • Conveys important topics and a good storyline of a young woman finding her voice
  • The tone of the book, which was British, felt like home for me making it an easy read. It was a nice change
  • I liked the character development in Izzy and her mother
  • There were not too many characters to focus on which for me makes it an easier read.
  • The book had me slightly tensed at times and keeping me turning the page

Cons: [TW AND SLIGHT SPOILERS]
  • I think the author tried to cram as many plotlines as possible in one. Everything that could possible go wrong did go wrong.
  • Some things in the plot was just mentioned and then brushed under the carpet again. Eg, Daniel faking his mothers death, Daniel and the court, Izzys dad not knowing why she existed, and his death. These topics could have had been more substantial and added to the storyline.
  • For me I was unable to connect to any of the characters which is a major motivator when it comes to reading for me. This book was predominantly plot based rather than character based. Izzy being the main character was still not very likeable for me. Her best friend frequently quite annoying, especially the way she spoke. Harry was introduced quite late into the plot and some things such as their first kiss ect was rushed over so I couldn't really get to know him as a character.
  • Personally for me there was too many modern mentions. Eg. song artists, Netflix, political happenings. This makes it harder for me to feel present in the book as it cant be directly related the current time.
