Book 4 in the Donnellys of Dogwood Cove series
This book was so good. Cam is in a town where she doesn't fit in and the people there don't like her. After the loss of her grandfather, the last person in her family, Beckett rushes to her side. She finds out that her grandfather left her a trust fund, but with a stipulation that she has to get married in order to get it. Beckett suggests that they get married and asks her to go back to Dogwood Cove with him and she agrees.
Let me tell you. Beckett is described as kinda dorky, quiet, and shy, but he wasn't so quiet or shy in the bedroom, if you know what I mean. The mouth on that man! I mean jeez louise!!
I liked that Cam had a lot of character growth. She deserved her happy ever after.
I also liked that we got to see the rest of the family. Once again Sawyer made me laugh out loud:
"Don't tell me you never walk around your house with a nudey bootie. It's shit, man. Just Freeball it and relax."
I am not ashamed to say I sat here for 5 minutes and laughed at "nudey bootie."
A huge thanks to Julia Jarrett for this ARC!

This series is always super enjoyable and superrrrr steamy š¤¤ The plot for this one wasnāt my favourite, but I still loved my trip back to Dogwood Cove and all the characters! Thatās totally a personal thing - parts of the plot were not favourites of mine which unfortunately did affect how I enjoyed it. Iād absolutely still recommend reading it, as I love getting snippets of all our favourite Donnellys and you cannot miss Jarretts steamy scenes.

"This woman. She's my beginning, my middle and my end. She's everything and more. And she's finally mine."
- Small town
- (Secret) marriage of convenience
- Best friends to lovers
- He falls first (sheās the one who doesnāt do marriage)
- Golden retriever hero
- Forced proximity
- Dual POV
Cam has been through a lot: losing her parents as a kid, then her grandad, then her job, all while living in a town with judgmental locals. So you can understand why she has her walls up high and doesnāt believe in marriage. But then her grandad stipulates she must marry to receive a very sizeable trust, so Beckett saves the day and convinces her to start over in Dogwood Cove.
I am team Beckett! What a selfless and overprotective golden retriever hero. He was so patient with Cam as she slooowly let her walls come down and showed him her soft and vulnerable side. He was also so sweet ā the origami flowers! The art supplies! The hoops studio! The anniversary flowers!
But look, Iām also team Cam. It was a joy to see Camās character develop as she was unapologetically herself and found what made her happy. She didn't think she was enough for him, but Beckett proved time and time again that she couldn't be further from the truth. "I don't want anything if I don't have you by my side." š„ŗ
This was a bit of a slow burn as Beckett respects Cam's desire to stay friends only. But the forced proximity tension between them? š„ There might even be some āplatonicā bed-sharing before weāre introduced to dirty-talking Beck š®āšØ. He likes a "my wife" moment... and so do I!
Thank you to Julia for the early copy š«¶š».

When her last remaining family member passes away, Cam is left alone but sheās not alone and has never been. Her best friend Beckett has always been there for her however she needed and when he suggests they get married to obtain her inheritance, despite the craziness of the plan she knows thereās no one else she trusts to say yes to. Beckett has been in love with Cam for years but knew all she would ever give him was friendship but now with this marriage of convenience it will take all his restraint to keep his heart in check but the minute she shows signs of something else, all bets are off.
Itās always the quiet ones and buttoned up account Beckett was anything but that in the bedroom. He surprised Cam in more ways than one with his dirty talk and desires and he gave her everything she didnāt know she needed. I really wanted to give Cam a hug for everything sheās been through but you knew she would always be taken care of with Beckett in her life and the rest of the Donnelly family.
Promise to Marry You is the fourth book in the Donnellyās of Dogwood Cove series and the finally book is Sawyerās story and I canāt wait for it. Throughout the series heās been the most resistant to his siblingsās happily ever after so I canāt wait to see him get his.
