first GL book. maybe not the greatest place to start, very much a revert to the status quo so we can tell different stories but not have to deal with the consequences of everything we just did type book, but i like kyle

I’ve been meaning to get up to speed on ‘Green Lantern,’ mostly because of its rich history and sci-if milieu. “Rebirth” seemed like a good jumping-on point for the reader with a passing familiarity with the character.

Unfortunately, “Rebirth” is everything I dislike about superhero comics: unidimensional characters, a complex backstory that mystifies newcomers, and conflicts that always seem to boil down to a bunch of luchadores punching one another.

I spent half this comic wondering what was going on, and the other half not caring. Still, “Rebirth” is very nicely drawn. At least it has that going for it.

This book is the reintroduction of Hal Jordan, the Silver Age Green Lantern, back into the DC Universe as the "greatest Green Lantern" again in the mid 2000's. This book does a pretty good job of undoing the mess that turning Hal Jordan into a mentally unstable murderer and supervillain did to the Green Lanterns. You can see the foundation of the emotional spectrum rings and the Green Lantern Corps being set but I didn't like this books use of the Justice League (particularly Batman) except for Green Arrow. Overall a good use of the old and new to "reset" the lore of the Green Lantern's without a complete reboot.

I started reading Green Lantern with the 2011 DC reboot, I since back dated and restarted from this.

DCs Green Lantern Rebirth comic is a good place to start for anyone getting into the comic series, a lot of events have happened since this was release and I definitely recommended any new readers start from here.
