descriptionI like the cover on this one a lot. Good representation of one of the male leads. Good composition and title work as well.description

descriptionSo this one was a bit of a mixed bag for me which makes it a bit of a PITA to review. I didn't particularly like the heroine or her stringing along three men. She was basically a female manwhore. Sleeping with two and making out with the third all at the same time. I wasn't sure if I should be disgusted or give her a high-five. And I HATED that she got
Spoilerpregnant by her ex and now the poor hero has to raise his kid.
Talk about a totally unnecessary plot point. I also found certain aspects of the book cheesy (Danish mafia..'Nuff said). There were no sex scenes, and it was way too long.

That said, every time I thought about setting it aside and calling it a day I would read a few more pages and get sucked back into the story again. So clearly there was something that I enjoyed and kept me reading. I would even go so far as to say that I was intrigued enough to give the next book a go. I am going to go with a three-star rating at this point. That may or may not change after I moll it over a bit more.description

Cameron is a mob soldier who has been sent to Iowa to sort out some rival gangsters. When he wakes up in a field with a knife and a gun and a dead body beside him he finds himself dragged into the legal system.

Joci was Cameron's first love and now she is his lawyer. As the case progresses she finds herself drawn to him but with two other suitors in the wings and mobsters circling life is both complicated and dangerous.

Have you ever read a good book that you just didn't like?

Appointed by Fate is that book for me. I know it's good. It's gritty Romantic Suspense. It's a well written Courtroom drama. Honestly, it's a great book for the right reader. I'm not that reader and all cards on the table I'll explain why.

The main character has an intimate relationship with all three men in this book. I really don't mind women or men who have multiple sexual partners, I've read and enjoyed plenty of Erotic Fiction. But books about sex and books about romance are very different things and I don't want that in a romance novel.

So 3 Stars, but it's a good 3 Stars. I was tossing up rating it 4 Stars because I don't want to be seen as damning it with faint praise.

Many thanks to the author who provided me with a review copy of this book

I enjoyed this book but at times I just found Joci too much with how she was getting involved with everyone. I realized her past was with Adrian but then she was almost having some sort of relationship with 3 guys at the same time.

The ties to the mafia were a little unclear with the names of JJ and Jerry being kind of similar and I must admit that I missed up things in my head a couple of times. There were a couple of other times that I was trying to figure out who had ties to which group.

There was a lot of chemistry in the book and I think it was almost too much to make some of the relationships seem real. It was obvious that Cameron and Joci had feelings for each other but that Joci did not want to get involved with Cameron in case he was guilty.

The ending was quite the "bang" and it made decisions much easier for Joci.
