This book would make for a perfect gift for a new mother, a great Mother's Day gift to your own mother, or a reassuring gift from a mother to a child, just to say "I'll always support you."

I feel as sentimental about this book as I do "Love You Forever," without any of the "climbing through your window" heebie-jeebies.

I love the bird and the tree ones but the rest feels so controlling.

More for a parent and their child. The language, repetition, and insane artwork were not my favorite, but still creative.

Although not strictly poetic, the lines are so lovely that i decided to say it was. Written in 1942, this story can feel dated but I so loved the lines and the bond between mother and child:

'If you run after me,' said the little bunny, 'I will become a fish in a trout stream and I will swim away from you.'
'If you become a fish in a trout stream,' said his mother, 'I will become a fisherman and I will fish for you.'

Cute, but you have to wonder: Why does the little bunny want to get away from his mother so badly? The illustrations are cute, too.

This book is a beautiful story. (It's also great for STEM storytimes and If/Then statements)

Mother Bunny as stalker, its kind of creepy. But it is saved by good enough writing, and some fantastic colored art - my favorites being the Bunny Bird and the Bunny Sailboat. And the completely useful line of "have a carrot" is something we quote in our house all the time.
