I LOVED it. Recommend 100%.

Quite a creepy sense running through it, a constant undercurrent of danger.

A wonderful debut novel that laid down 2 issues that are equally thrilling.

This is the story of Alison. A practicing lawyer who has alcohol problems and was assigned her first murder case. These elements (alcohol and murder case) are the two issues that she needs to work on in order for her to save her job and her family.

The way the story was told was quite slow because of how the two issues got intertwined. The investigation of the murder case and her personal issues were told cohesively and it felt like I am watching a movie in my mind. This is a testament on how good the author is in describing what is happening and the thoughts and feelings of the characters without being too wordy.

The story has multiple plot twist that are quite easy to guess but inspite of that, I still rated this book a solid 4 stars because of how entertaining it is.

I didn’t even get halfway through this one before I decided not to finish it. It didn’t draw me in right away and I got bored waiting for something to happen to pique my interest. I found that I wasn’t reaching for it often, as I just really wasn’t into it. This is my first DNF.

I had such high expectations for this book but it was honestly just SO dry like a lot of the stuff I just didn’t care about like all of the martial problems and everything and all the characters were such dickheads which is whatever when the book is written well but none of them had any depth and were just SO annoying my goodness
