This book was… weird. I didn’t like it at all and had to put it down even though I was so close to finishing it. I shouldn’t have gone on that long. I wanted to like it so bad, but something about it didn’t click with me. Too many tropes I didn’t like.
Graphic: Death of parent, Toxic relationship, and Toxic friendship
Moderate: Grief
Minor: Homophobia, Lesbophobia, and Biphobia

“The truth is, I’ve learned a lot about myself lately, and at this point, I don’t feel like any of the labels really fit me.”

Jupiter Sanchez has been out of the closet for most of her life and most days her best friend, Coop, is fine with that. Except Coop’s been in love with Jupiter most of their lives as well. He knows she’ll never see him that way and he’s trying to make peace with it and continue their friendship without her knowing his true feelings. Only now Jupiter’s time is being divided between Coop and a new girl, Rae. Told in three different points of view we see what happens when friendships become more, lines are blurred and romance blooms.

For some reason I never read Odd One Out by the AMAZING Nic Stone and I’m kicking myself. This YA book is phenomenal and does such a fabulous job of discussing how fluid sexuality can be, especially at an age when you’re still figuring out who you are. Labeling can also be difficult at this age at all when you’re still trying to understand it yourself. Be kind to YOU and realize that it’s a journey. Reading all three points of view really connected me to each character and honestly I didn’t know which couple I was rooting for throughout each part of the novel. If you haven’t read this yet, I devoured it in one day. That should tell you that you should read it as well.
CW: nightmares, homophobia
