Alright so I have this book a 2/5 and giving it 2 stars was me being very generous. The amount of slut shaming, purity culture bullshit, and the brush over of cheating infuriated me. This book did not age well and I remember why I hated this book the most out of the series. Hunter did not deserve Raina. He looked at her differently all because she had sex like boo hoo it happens get over it. And everyone guilt tripped Kathleen into getting back with Carson when he allowed his girlfriend best friend to kiss him and treat Kathleen poorly. Like what?! How is she to blame for ending the relationship. I can not with this book. Will never read it again.

I decided to reread this series since I had first read it during my middle school years. It definitely aged well for me but it was still difficult to get through at some points. I still have two more books to get through. If memory serves me correctly my favorite was Holly’s story so I’m excited to keep reading!

I feel so saddened by this book. I always get attached to characters and I feel so sad when something happens to one, even if they are not the main character of the books.

I wish McDaniel would write a book that lets us view into Raina, Holly, and Kathleen's futures. I liked being able to see Kathleen and Carson's relationship blossom, Holly and Chad's relationship start off, and I wish that Raina and Hunter's relationship was just that...a relationship. But, for some reason, McDaniel decided to write the book the way it is...and as much as I enjoyed the series, I wish that she had written this particular book a different way, in a happier note, so to speak.

Even though this book is supposed to revolve around one of three best friends, Kathleen, I found that it was divided pretty evenly between the three girls. Kathleen's mother is afflicted with multiple sclerosis, which adds a human interest element to the plot that makes the reader sympathetic to Kathleen's struggles. This is also makes it quite understandable as to why Kathleen would be attracted to bad-boy Carson -- she lives such a controlled life that she needs some rebellion and unpredictability to make life more interesting.
The three girls volunteer for a program at the local hospital, called the Pink Angels. This makes for great background material as there is plenty of fodder for creating obstacles and conflicts. It was also somewhat familiar to me, thanks to what I've gone through with my youngest daughter's two hospital stays. My heart especially melted at one of the girl's interactions with a boy sick with cancer.
The characters were not overly unique and some were more likable than others. What really bothered me the most was how the book ended -- it just sort of cuts off. I understand that this book is part of a trilogy, but as it attempts to focus on one particular character, Kathleen, the plot lines pertaining to her should be resolved.

• I liked this book and thought that it was a good conclusion to the series but it was a bit too realistic for me

• I liked that this book was realistic and had things go wrong like they do in real life but I read books to see all the characters end up living good lives. This book didn’t have a bad ending, it was just more realistic than I would have liked as the wasn’t as tactile as I wanted it to be

• I liked the characters and how there were multiple POV but I thought that there wasn’t enough side characters shown as Carson, Chad and the girls’ families didn’t really have enough time in the book to understand them properly

• I liked this series a lot and I might want to read another book by this author but I’ll have to check which books I pick by her

3.5 stars

This book was pretty basic but had some great morals. The writing style was pretty average. Kathleen's Story has a good plot. Nothing special but not bad, hence the 3.5 stars.
