To overcome adversity like she has is simply amazing. It must be so incredibly difficult to try and break free of everything you’ve ever known and remake yourself, but she did. So well written.

It was an easy read that pulled me along, and written well enough. I’m not sure it had much of a point beyond her personal story, which is fine. I was just a little disappointed as I expected something more given her PhD.

this book was a wild ride of a time. I expect this book to be about higher education like, for example, a professional advice book, however, I was so wrong. This book was a memoir about a girl who was raised Mormon and did not go to school. I found myself reacting viscerally to what I was listening to. She lived through so much, and I hated that nobody saved her from her saying in abusive family. I kept finding myself wishing she was snap out of the brainwashing because she was on a self-destructive path, which really wasn't her fault. But as she got older, she needed to take ownership of it.

Although my stomach wrenched at some of the author’s stories, I couldn’t put the book down. She is a fantastic writer who can easily carry a story along while simultaneously gripping you in each chapter. My heart hurts for the people in stories like these, so I was close to giving it a 4 star. But, it is not her fault that she was raised in a vastly different world than others. She simply decided to share her hurt with the world.

"Educated" was not at all what I expected, although it is very well written. The memoir reads more like a novel than non-fiction, and kept me turning pages even after each shocking or horrifying recollection of the author's life. I'm amazed at how she was able to reshape herself and her life.
