There is lots to look at in this book. I love that they both knit! I love the cut out page of the submarine and I love the little dialogue between smaller critters in the pictures.

I loooooved this book. First, I noticed that I can actually tell Squid and Octopus apart because Squid has green dots and Octopus has blue ones. Brilliant. Tao Nyen's book tells four separate stories, each of which is hilarious, has amazing pictures and is heartwarming.
I tried just now to pick my favorite scene, but each illustration is brilliant in its own way. Maybe it's a tie between the "splendid exchange of socks and mittens" and the "did you just squirt ink on me?"

Thank you, Tao Nyen.

Cute book for littles and maybe up to 6yo. I think it's a collection of short stories so could be used again for a different storytime.

These little stories are short and sweet a la Mo Willems. I look forward to reading this with our daughter when she is older because there is loads to look at and tons of little side conversations happening with characters throughout. So fun to read.

Very cute story for young readers. There are several mini-"chapters" in this story, each a new story in Squid and Octopus' friendship. As we were reading this story, my daughter asked what was a difference between a squid and octopus, so we looked it up, using several sources from the internet then used that new knowledge as we read the book! Of course, she later pointed out that we could have figured it out because they always wear the same colored hat to help us know who-was-who....
This book was a great introduction to longer chapter books that are about friends - such as the Frog and Toad books, or Henry and Mudge. In the first chapter, Squid and Octopus have a disagreement about whether they wear socks or mittens on their tentacles. Each chapter has one of the friends narrating that particular story and there is always a problem and solution. Young readers will enjoy reading about these ocean creatures and the predicaments they get into!

Read this at the Tattered Cover Bookstore and wanted to hug the book when I finished. 4 sweet, silly stories of best friends Squid and Octopus. The illustrations are full of details that would make this book perfect for sharing.

Fun story with cute illustrations. Lots of fun comments going on outside of the main narrative make this extra entertaining for young readers.
