My usual habit: reading Christmas books in December.

One of the my Top Ten for 2010.

I really enjoyed this. It was well written and I learned a lot of historical happenings and how life was in the 1600's in England.

Like "i>The Autobiography of Santa Claus, this new effort by Jeff Guinn also blends history and fantasy. This time, Santa Claus is away in the new world trying to encourage the growth of Christmas. Meanwhile, in Britain, the English Civil War has broken out, and Christmas is in danger of being suppressed and forgotten. Mrs. Claus takes center stage in the effort to preserve the Christmas season. Another well-written and well-researched Christmas book by Guinn!

This was such a great read, I thoroughly enjoyed it as much as the first book in the Christmas Chronicles. This book is all in the POV of Mrs. Claus and her involvement in helping to save Christmas in 17th century England. I really love how Jeff Guinn brings in historical facts mixed with his great storytelling talent. I cannot wait to read the third book.

This book mixes myth and true facts in a way that is somewhat difficult to understand at first. Once you get a few chapters in though, you begin to understand that the plot details about Mrs. Claus are a fictionalized version of events interspersed with paragraphs proving real descriptions of historical trends and events.

This was a great story. It made me want to read up on European history to see which historical details were accurate. A great read!
