The writing is as great as ever, but the story feels uneccessary. I'd look on this much fonder if it hadn't gone on as long as it did. I also think it ultimately makes Snow less interesting in the original trilogy to know this much more about him, even if his character works well here on its own. Some great moments in here though.

I don't feel like that was a story that needed to be told. I would have preferred a novella about Lucy Gray, if anything.
