This might be the worst book I’ve ever finished. This could’ve been a great series, but felt like a half-baked Wattpad story.

The Selection x Divergent with vampires.

While the vampire origin is unique not much else is.

Like most humans, Emily lives in a compound where she will spend her life unless chosen by one of the Elite. Everyone accepts that the covenant is for the good for all and necessary to keep them all safe. Or almost everyone, when Emily is chosen by Prince Damien, a group of rebels is determined to persuade her that all is not as right as it seems. As she trains for the trials, it seems Emily is not what she seems either as certain unusual powers gradually come to light.
The elite are basically a type of vampire, created by too much of a cure to a virus that wiped out most of humanity.
This book reminded me a bit of The Selection series, which I loved, but with lots of fantasy. It's gripping all the way through but leaves you hanging a bit at the end. Will unfortunately have to wait a while for book 2!
I was waiting ages for this book and it did not disappoint. Ever since reading a short story by the author in a fantasy collection.
