Great guide!

I bought it before our first trip to Mexico, and it was very useful. I liked the maps, pictures and descriptions. If you are planning an interesting adventure, I recommend it.

I brought this book for our trip to Mexico and I got the area specific version to try and find out a bit more detail about the area we were staying in. Whenever I go anywhere I always get both the lonely planet version and the DK one. Usually the DK one is the generic country one and the lonely planet the more area specific. Both are good in different ways. Lonely planet I find is good for food, places to sleep/ stay and general knowledge on safety etc. It's more geared to the back packers. I also only read the bits that were relevant to the area we are staying and find that lonely planet focuses on scuba diving, snorkelling and other water based activities for this area, which this area is well known for. Which is great if you love that sort of thing. But I am not a great swimmer! I also found that in reality our travel company knew and gave us most of the info we needed in the end to make informed decisions about our days trips out. Turns out there is a lot more to do than diving and snorkelling.
