This is a great book for kids who are beginning to read. They can read this themselves. The back lists it as grade 1-3.

I am still learning things about this movement. This book is about the March on Washington in 1963 where MLK gives his "I have a Dream Speech". Apparently, he was giving a great speech when Mahalia Jackson, who is on stage or close by, yells out, "tell us about your dream". MLK puts down his notes and he simply begins to speak from his heart. I'm sure he has been thinking of these themes and words for years now and they simply flow from his heart. Incredible.

There was a man that skated to the march from chicago - took 10 days. That was interesting.

I didn't really think much of the art. It was there to fill in a picture in your head. It feels like cheap. Still, the story is good and you get a sense of how important this dream is. My niece was able to read much of this. As this is our 3rd day of MLK there were less questions and less interest.
