A Curse for True Love had me sobbing multiple times and was on track to be an easy 5 stars until I reached the end, which felt… unsatisfying. Multiple ends were left untied, which I don’t mind if it concerns side characters but it didn’t feel like even Jacks & Eva’s story was properly wrapped up. It didn’t feel like the ending it was building up to and there was potential for so much more.

Unfortunately I felt much the same about Caraval, the last book left me wanting. There’s no denying that Stephanie writes magic and romance that captivates you, but I find myself wishing these books were that bit more consistent as they could have been favourites of all time.

I liked how the story ended. It was like a new story altogether which was cool. However part of the ending felt repetitive and fell a little flat for me.
