This book is the third part of a series, but you can read it also as a standalone. I did not find it difficult to follow despite having not read the two previous books. The two main characters are female and queer. And while I love the enemies to lovers trope, I found it to be a bit over the top at times. I don't know if I would be as forgiving as those two are. But the worldbuilding is very cool: there are pirates, dragons, gods and multidimensions. It might seem an odd mixture, but it fit pretty well together.
Moderate: Physical abuse, Torture, and Abandonment
Minor: Grief
