Koff walks you through her career as a forensic anthropologist who worked to unearth mass graves in Rwanda, Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo. It is a very direct book documenting her day to day experiences of exhuming bodies in mass graves and her personal reflections while she did her work. It's deeply fascinating and profoundly depressing that this work exists, and Koff took such a deep psychological hit to do a lot of good work.

I agree with a lot of the reviews, where the first 2/3rds of this book is really solid, and it feels like it sort of trails off towards the end.
