even a slight discworld book is wonderful! i feel like i've heard that rincewind is the least popular of the main discworld protagonists, but i can't help but love a character who's presence in a story even makes death groan out loud. strangely also felt like one of the most british books of the series so far, which is an amusing plus in my book.

7/10. Not the best Discworld book by any means, but also not a bad book in the least. I read this book in one sitting and thought it was very entertaining. This book is one of the easiest reads in the series, being only 150 pages long, and it is a parody of the German play 'Faust'. This book is written kind of like a collection of short stories that Pratchett didn't want to pass up, but didn't want to write an entire novel on either. As such, the writing is a lot more fast-paced than other Discworld novels, and there is a lot of variety. Out of the short stories, I enjoyed the one about the Tezumen people the most, which has one of the funniest lines I've ever read. If you're apprehensive about reading this particular Discworld book because of its relatively low rating compared to the rest of the series, don't be. It's a short read that's worth your time, despite its flaws. Those flaws are a) Eric (the character) is kind of bland, annoying and really only acts to push the plot forward, and b) the book feels a bit underwhelming, and you get the sense that Pratchett could have done more with this idea. I'm loving this series, and I'm very excited to read Guards! Guards! and Pyramids next.

Я бачила, що рейтинги цього роману не дуже, але мені було нормально. Не найбільш пам'ятна книжка в серії, але як відкриття нового аспекту Дискосвіту доволі нічого.

I have missed Rincewind so much! He's by far my favourite character, especially his relationship with Death.
