Jenny Lee's Anna K and Anna K: Away are both highly entertaining, silly novels that are my definition of escapism. By premise alone, neither are books that excite me but then after a few minutes, I am hooked. I love that Jenny Lee can pull me in even when I am doubtful at the start. Part of it may be Jenna Ushkowitz' brilliant narration... elevating the sass to the max in a way that draws you in and cringe at the same time. There is something spectacular about this adaptation that can entertain those who like the high-drama Anna Karenina (honestly, I would have never used "high-drama" to describe it since I've never read but after Anna K, it is now the only way I can see it) and those that have no interest in the classic whatsoever. In her sequel, Jenny Lee continues her spectacular cast of characters in their shenanigans. Full of Crazy Rich Asians and Gossip Girl vibes, it has slightly less plot but much more character and relationship development. If you need a few hours of total crazy and yet endearing characters living lives that most people can only imagine, this is for you!

I was a bit underwhelmed by the sequel; I just found a lot of the plot points to be unbelievable! Still a fun read though

Content warnings for any actual teenagers in my opinion, but this was such a fun and wild book! Perfect for fans of Gossip Girl or similar storylines. A wonderful sequel to Anna K, with a perfect ending!

4.5 stars! I loved this follow up to Anna K! Sequels are hard to do well, but this one was excellent. It picked up with the story and familiar characters from the first book, but it also added some new characters and settings that were different. It struck a great balance. Loved it! Highly recommend!
